DOWNPROOF FABRICS

10D Nylon Micro Ripstop DWR

A lightweight and breathable downproof ripstop nylon used in down-insulated sleep systems.

Why we use it

This fabric offers a good balance of downproofness and breathability, allowing insulation to loft up quickly. In our view, 10D is the sweet spot between low weight, compact packed size, and durability for sleep systems. Its soft hand feel is another big advantage, especially for products used close to the body.

Used in

Main fabric in ultralight line sleeping systems, and lining fabric in down-insulated clothing such as FL 2 Winter Pants.

Key specs

Finish: calendered, DWR

Weight: 25 g/m²

Fabric: 10D micro ripstop nylon

15D Nylon Micro Ripstop DWR

A medium-weight downproof nylon with improved durability.

Why we use it

It is still fairly light, but noticeably tougher than 10D nylon and more forgiving in everyday use. The denser construction also offers a bit more resistance to moisture.

Used in

Main fabric in basic line sleeping systems with 800 FP goose down, and shell and lining fabric in insulated clothing such as Nord Jacket.

Key specs

Finish: calendered, DWR

Weight: 33 g/m²

Fabric: 15D micro ripstop nylon

15D Plain-Weave Nylon Taffeta

A durable medium-weight downproof nylon with a smooth hand feel.

Why we use it

This fabric combines a high thread count with a soft feel. Its smooth texture and the absence of DWR make it a great next-to-skin lining fabric for down sleep systems.

Used in

Lining fabric in the 350 Summer sleeping bag.

Key specs

Finish: calendered

Weight: 39 g/m²

Fabric: 15D plain-weave nylon taffeta

20D Ripstop Nylon DWR

A durable medium-weight downproof nylon with ripstop reinforcement and DWR.

Why we use it

This classic downproof nylon works well as an outer shell fabric for a more durable everyday sleeping bag. It offers a good balance of weather resistance, durability, and practicality.

Used in

Shell fabric in the 350 Summer sleeping bag.

Key specs

Finish: calendered, DWR

Weight: 38 g/m²

Fabric: 20D ripstop nylon

20D Micro Ripstop Nylon DWR

A medium-weight downproof nylon with higher breathability and DWR.

Why we use it

This fabric was chosen specifically for the shell of down clothing. We prioritized higher air permeability so the insulation can release excess heat and moisture more easily during active use, without feeling clammy.

Used in

Shell fabric in FL 2 Winter Pants.

Note

Built to breathe better during active use.

Key specs

Finish: calendered

Weight: 38 g/m²

Fabric: 20D ripstop nylon

Levitex 10D Nylon with DWR

A lightweight and strong downproof ripstop nylon with DWR.

Why we use it

This is a more durable version of our 10D downproof fabric, used only in collaboration products with Levitate. It is less breathable than our 10D Nylon Micro Ripstop DWR, but offers a larger durability margin, which makes it better suited to a poncho quilt used outside the shelter.

Used in

Levitate × ROCK FRONT Multiquilt collaboration products.

Key specs

Finish: calendered, DWR

Weight: 27 g/m²

Fabric: 10D micro ripstop nylon

30D Ripstop Nylon DWR

A durable higher-density downproof nylon with ripstop reinforcement and DWR.

Why we use it

This is a tough and breathable downproof fabric for insulated clothing where long-term durability matters more than saving every gram. It is a strong choice for everyday wear.

Used in

Shell fabric in Nord Jacket and Vest.

Note

Prioritizes durability over minimum weight.

WINDPROOF FABRICS

7D Nylon Ripstop DWR

A lightweight and breathable ripstop nylon used in wind shells.

Why we use it

This fabric combines very low weight with high breathability, making it a strong choice for active use. It helps balance wind protection with better moisture and heat release.

Used in

Air Lite Windbreaker Jacket.

Note

Requires careful handling around sharp abrasion points.

Key specs

Finish: calendered, DWR

Weight: 19 g/m²

Fabric: 7D ripstop nylon

WATERPROOF FABRICS

15D Sil/PU Ripstop Nylon

A lightweight non-breathable ripstop nylon used for reliable weather protection and low packed size.

Why we use it

It blocks rain and wind, packs small, and works well in simple ultralight shells where mechanical venting matters more than membrane breathability. Silicone coating on the outer side helps shed water and keeps the fabric from wetting out. PU coating on the inside allows seams to be taped for full waterproof protection in the finished product.

Used in

Rain Hoody and other rain protection gear.

Note

Best paired with mechanical ventilation.

Requires careful handling around sharp abrasion points

Key specs

Water resistance: 2500 mm

Finish: silicone/PU coating

Weight: 42 g/m²

Fabric: 15D ripstop nylon

Breathability: non-breathable

20D Sil/Sil Micro Ripstop Nylon

A lightweight and durable nylon tarp fabric with silicone coating on both sides.

Why we use it

This fabric offers strong waterproof performance and good strength at low weight and packed size. It works well in ultralight shelters where low weight and tear strength matter.

Used in

Skyhiker Ultralight Tarp (nylon version).

Note

Best suited to flat tarps with catenary cuts.

Sil/sil fabrics cannot be seam taped, but seams can be sealed with a silicone-based sealant.

Key specs

Water resistance: 4000 mm

Weight: 39 g/m²

Fabric: 20D ripstop nylon

Breathability: non-breathable

20D Sil/Sil Micro Ripstop Polyester

A polyester tarp fabric with silicone coating on both sides.

Why we use it

This fabric combines strong waterproof performance and good durability, but its main advantage is dimensional stability in wet conditions. Unlike nylon, silicone-coated polyester does not absorb as much moisture or stretch as much, helping the tarp keep a better pitch in damp weather.

Used in

Skyhiker Ultralight Tarp (nylon version).

Note

Sil/sil fabrics cannot be seam taped, but seams can be sealed with a silicone-based sealant.

Polyester stays more stable in wet conditions than nylon.

Key specs

Water resistance: 4000 mm

Finish: silicone/silicone coating

Weight: 46 g/m²

Fabric: 20D ripstop polyester

Breathability: non-breathable

Cordura® 1000D

A dense, abrasion-resistant nylon fabric built for high-wear areas.

Why we use it
